Roof Insulation
Roof insulation is a building material or a collection of techniques used to protect the roof area of a building from external factors, save energy and increase indoor comfort. Roof insulation is applied for the following basic purposes:
Waterproofing Roof insulation provides waterproofing to keep rain, snow, ice or other liquids from leaking into the building. This protects the attic or other upper floors of the building from water damage.
Thermal Insulation: Roof insulation contributes to energy savings by ensuring that the interior is not affected by external weather conditions. Good roof insulation provides protection against extreme heat in summer and extreme cold in winter.
Sound Insulation: Roof insulation can also provide sound insulation, thus reducing outside noise and creating a quieter indoor environment.
Roof insulation materials are generally made of materials such as glass wool, rock wool, polyurethane foam, EPS (Expanded Polystyrene), XPS (Extruded Polystyrene), polyisocyanurate. Insulation materials can be applied under the roof or on top of the roofing material. The type of insulation may vary depending on the structure of the roof, climatic conditions and local regulations.
Roof insulation is considered an important structural element to reduce energy costs, provide a more comfortable climate inside the building and extend the life of the roof. It is also important for environmental sustainability because it contributes to energy savings and reduces the carbon footprint.
